The tactical officer on the Starbase probably fired on the Hope with revenge, and determination to kill every officer on board. "More bad news: the shield energizers took some damage. Good news: it's minimal and reparable. Bad news: it will take several minutes to bring their power back up and we can only hope for enough time," reported Alura. "We only need to hold our Shields up for as long as you can!" "Only alternative of immediate escape would mea risking a quick warp jump on two conduits. In their present condition, I wouldn't guarantee a high margin of survivability, not until we've had a chance to check them VERY thoroughly." She emphasized the last crisply. "No need, and I will not take that risk. Hold the shields together until the Paladin get here." Calvin said as the ship was blasted away by a torpedo. The bridge violently shook. Calvin fail to the floor. He put his palms down on the floor and pushed himself back up. As he stood, a console at one of the secondary engineering station blew. Flames began to grow at a rapid speed. Officers quickly came on the bridge to put out the fire, but smoke began to fill the bridge. With the shields down to less than 30 percent now there was no more power for the ventilation system to come on, and clear the smoke. Seconds later as Calvin got his eye sight back, he witnessed another explosion, but it was at Elizabeth's console. He ran to her station, and found her body lying on the ground with blood oozing out. As he began to call for a Doctor he felt the pull of the transporter beam on him, and watched Ensign Knightley being materialized. Calvin and Elizabeth both rematerialized in the cargo bay that was set up for triage. The first officer looked around and yelled for the dr. "Dr. Keller!" (posted by Calvin) ====================================================================================== (USS Paladin, Bridge, CO Captain Eva Straton, 0927) Eva leaned back in her chair as the Paladin swung around toward Star Base 234 and began to close. She looked at the tactical display on her arm rest screen and noticed a trio of enemy ships breaking away from the rest of the enemy formation and making a run toward the Paladin's flank. ~Looking like the enemy is getting an upper hand there. Need to fix that.~ "CONN," Eva said, still looking at the tactical display. "Bring us about to 035 mark 47. Shark Bait form up to our rear." Eva hit the button to open her secure channel to StratOps. "Commander, it's time to bring in our Klingon reserves. Have them hit the enemy lines flank." (Reply Rulestaad) Eva turned her attention back to the main viewer as the trio of enemy ships were approaching weapons range. Eva's eyes narrowed as she made out the lead ship. A black Sovereign class, followed by a pair of Prometheus class ships. ~The Trigote.~ Eva thought, remembering the briefing Rulestaad had given on that particular vessel. Behind the three ships, Eva could make out what remained of the USS Nemesis, and a pair of Vor'Cha Class, they were nothing more than floating debris now. The Trigote had been cutting their line to shreds, now it was making a run at the Paladin, the obvious flag ship of the attacking forces. "Target the starboard ship. Hit it with everything we got," Eva ordered, while typing commands into her arm rest console. "CON, prepare to change course to the heading I'm feeding to your console, upon my mark. Advise Shark Bait to wait till we change course then break and engage the remaining Prometheus." Eva took a second to look over at Kerge. "I want that Prometheus dead, Mr. Kerge. I will be most displeased if it is still in one piece after our pass. (Reply Kerge) Eva leaned back in her chair. ~ I hope this works.~ She thought as the ships closed. She was trying to take out the Trigote's support ships in one decisive move. Leaving the Trigote alone to face the Paladin's superior fire power, if it worked. The ships closed within firing range. "NOW!" Eva yelled, leaning back in her chair and grabbing the armrests firmly. The Paladin broke hard to starboard while tilting downward on her Z axis to slip under and away from the attacking ships while her weapons fired non-stop on the starboard ship. Eva could feel the inertial dampeners straining to compensate for the extreme maneuver the Paladin was making. A ship the size of the Paladin didn't make sharp turns easily. "Inertial dampeners at 110%," Sarouk's calm voice called out over the bridge. "Rerouting power." The Paladin shook and shook again as her shields suddenly absorbed a punishing assault from the Trigote and the two Prometheus class. Sparks flew from several bridge consoles and Eva smelled smoke filling the air. She was thrown forward then backward several times as the Paladin bucked under the strain of the maneuver and the powerful weapon barrage she was taking. ~Hold together! Come on! Hold! Together!~ Suddenly the bridge lights went out. The emergency lights came on a second latter throwing shadows across the Bridge "We've lost main power," Sarouk said, somehow still seated at the engineering console. "Shields are down." "Get them back up!" Eva yelled, jumping to her feet as the ship slowly stopped bucking as the Paladin pulled out of it's tight turn. Then she heard the sound of transporter beam in's. A lot of them. "REPEL BOARDERS!" Eva yelled, pulling her phaser and shooting the first armored enemy marine that appeared before her. The Bridge exploded into a fierce fire fight as enemy forces battled the Paladin crew for control. He acknowledged the transporter operator and made his way to the door with his two bags with his clothes, personal affects, basic medical supplies, and a phaser. He didn't even get the door to the main hall open good when the ship was rocked with a massive blast. ~Oh goodie. This should prove interesting.~, Tar thought as he regained his balance and began to make his way down the halls. The ship immediately went on Red Alert. ~Gee I should get an assignment really quick here.~ Tar took the phaser out of his bag and made his way down the hall. His senses were going off. Something was horribly amiss within the ship. Sure enough he turned the corner and there were two marines. Federation marines and from a telepathic scan Tar learned they weren't sympathetic to this ship's cause. The marines saw him one split second too late as his phaser's beam ripped through them both. "Computer, where am I and where is the bridge?" The computer replied, "Your present location is Deck 8, the bridge can be found on Deck 1." Tar did a quick scan for a turbolift. He dropped the bag with his personal affects and clothes in them. There were replicators on this ship. He would more likely need his weapons and medical supplies it looked like. He jogged to the turbolift. He pushed the button but to no avail. This particular turbolift was out of order. Just at about the time his empathic danger sense went off, an arm was around his neck and a phaser to his head. "Betcha didn't see that coming you Betazoid freak. Shoulda bombed you out with the rest of 'em." Came a steely, gravelly voice from behind him. Tar threw his feet over his head simultaneously sliding down out of the marine's grip and kicking him squarely in the mouth. Tar turned around and the marine was still standing, albeit minus a few front teeth. Tar's black eyes burned with rage as he performed a basic Tai Ch'i move, hooking the front two fingers on his right hand and gouging them into the marine's eye sockets and pulling while delivering the heel of his hand to the base of the marine's nose. Tar rubbed his sore neck and spat at the marine. Then he felt something hard against the back of his head. He rolled with the hit but it still left a very marked bruise that extended to the side of his face. He immediately turned around and did a leg sweep and took down the marine to the floor. However the marine took Tar's leg on the way down and twisted, spraining his left ankle. Tar winced in pain but used his other leg to make a temple shot on the marine's head. "Jefferies Tubes it is..." Tar threw his bag ahead of him and then rested his weight on his good leg and made a jump, pulling himself into the Jefferies tubes above him. Tar crawled through, keeping his mind open for other presences in the tube. He crawled through with his bag gingerly making his way down to Deck 1. Once there he crawled out of the Jefferies Tube, right onto the bridge, smack in front of the Captain. Nonplussed, he stood at attention as best he could and saluted the Captain. "Ensign Dr. Tar Lanien Loxari, reporting for duty, sir." Calvin said as the bridge suddenly shook as the ship was hit by a strong phaser by Starbase 234. Kyp turned his head to look at K'Palla, "What do Klingons have to say about this?" "It is a good day to die, K'yp, but the day is not yet over!" quoted the Klingon female. K'Palla saw the Paladin moving over them. Her station monitors showed that she put her shields around the Hope. I will be most displeased if it is still in one piece after our pass", said the Captain. Now that was an order.... Lt Kerge only growled at the CO`s command, he said nothing as he locked the targetting scanners onto the Prometheus`s warp core & plotted a firing solution, taking into consideration the effective yeild required of Quantum torpedoes & phasers fired at optimal striking distance. The ship in question of course was turning ahead of them now & coming to an intercept heading again, it`s phasers were already firing as their distances closed but Kerge had already fed the required tactical information to the helm. "Course plotted & fed to helm sir, firing in six....five.....four.....three.....two......one.....", said Kerge, finalising the count & tearing into the Prometheus`s exposed underbelly at the exact moment they passed as the CO yelled "Now!". All at once, the Prometheus was dealt a viscious blow as the Paladins quantum torpedo launchers let loose a four way spread into her, her shields imediately feel to forty percent as the dorsal phaser array opened up on the cracks appearing in the engineering hull of the stricken vessel. "Enemy vessels shields are failing sir, her warp core is offline, hull breaches on decks nine, twenty two & thirty", said Kerge. (Reply CO) "Aye sir", said Kerge. "Inertial dampeners at 110%," Sarouk's calm voice called out over the bridge. "Rerouting power." "We've lost main power, shields are down.", came a cry from another of the bridge officers. "Get them back up!", cried the CO just as the horrible reality of transports initiating resounded around the bridge. "REPEL BOARDERS!", cried the Captain & a firefight imediately ensued as phasers were pulled quickly from their holsters to take on the marines that had just beamed in. Kerge wasted no time at all in rendering two of them incapacitated, then he continued targetting the others whilst attempting to keep the tactical console in his gaze to oversee things happening about the ship. Elsewhere, there were now reported beam in`s on various decks & these were now showing on Kerge`s tactical panel. "Bridge to all marine units, hostiles now reported in engineering, decks nine & twelve, quantum torpedo storage & the forwards weapon decks", said Kerge. Then he ducked & took out two more of the boarding party on their bridge. Engineering, Tactical and Conn were getting the bulk of his power reserves, the rest were going to who needed them the most. He watched as they made an attack run on some enemy ships that were moving towards them. The Conn did a very tight turn, which when one took into account the gravity well, were causing the Inertial dampers and the Structural Integrity Fields to become spastic. Michael compensated the best he could, making sure they had enough power to draw on without overloading them, and doing his best to reroute the reroute power around the more overly stressed EPS nodes. However much he tried to compensate, he knew what was going to happen, the stresses on the ship from all the various operations were just too much when one took into account the weapons fire and the gravity well. The first step in the failure was the Inertial Dampers hitting 110%, the stressed out the power grid, when you added in the fact that the tactical system required more power as the shields were being hit and the weapons were firing. He watched, and did his best to stop it, as the main power grid went off line. When the power grid went off line so did the shields, and in came the boarders. He looked up just in time to see a very angry looking Security guard materialize and aim a phaser at his head. "Son of a...." Was all Michael could mutter as he threw himself out of his chair and drew his phaser, watching as a phaser beam passed through the space he had just been in. Pointing his phaser at the man who just tried to kill him, he fired back, taking out the offending invader. He clambered back into his chair and started to do his best to bring Aux power online, as the world turned to chaos around him. Yelling out across the bridge, he hoped to get a certain Klingon's attention. "K'Palla, I don't have time for this," he yelled over his shoulder, his Irish brogue becoming more apparent due to the stress, "You mind keeping our guests occupied down here at my end of the room?" Michael asked, as he did his best to get the tactical systems, including Strat Ops, up and running again. (Reply K'Palla) Michael finally got Aux power routed to the shields and the Conn, "Captain, Axillary power routed to shields," Michael yelled over the din, even as they seemed to be gaining the upper hand over the invaders. (posted by Patrick) =========================================================================== (USS Hope - Cargo Bay 3 - CMO, Dr. Jared Keller- 0928) The ship shuddered under another barrage and Jared could hear the sound of the alert klaxon as he swiftly catagorized another burn victim and one young engineer who was dead by the time he arrived, seeing the sheet drawn up over his face was always heart wrenching to someone who had dedicated their life to healing. The whine of a transporter carrier beam sounded again and Dr. Keller turned to see what fresh injuries were arriving, to see the FO appear however with a female bridge officer gave him a shock. "Dr. Keller!" "I'm here Commander Capps," Jared hurried over to him as he held the bloody young woman in his arms, the commander appeared to have suffered a bit of shock himself. Jared grabbed a vial as he passed a tray and was dialing up pentepropaline as he neared the couple. "Nurse I want this woman prepped for surgery now!" The womans arms and hands were bloody as were her chest and lacerations on her face. As Ms Knightly was lifted gently from the commanders arms Jared lifted the hypo and at the last second diverted it to the commanders shoulder, there was a hiss and he stepped back. (Reply: Capps) "Don't worry Commander it's just a little somnething for the emotional trauma, it will relax you but not interfere with your duties." Without waiting for a reply he turned and took another hypo from an attendant and injected the sedative into Ensign Knightly's neck before turning back to Commander Capps. "I'm going to have her sent directly to sickbay for surgery, don't worry she'll be all right." He could tell worry was something that Calvin was going to be living with until the good news came through though which was normal, when one cared for another it was hard to let it go. Calvin was still shocked at the news that Elizabeth was going to need surgery right away. At first he didn't even notice the Doctor giving him some form of medication. Lt Cmdr must have given the doctor a stare of confusion. The doctor felt the he needed an explanation. "Don't worry Commander it's just a little somnething for the emotional trauma, it will relax you but not interfere with your duties." Without waiting for a reply he turned and took another hypo from an attendant and injected the sedative into Ensign Knightly's neck before turning back to Commander Capps. "I'm going to have her sent directly to sickbay for surgery, don't worry she'll be all right." He could tell worry was something that Calvin was going to be living with until the good news came through though which was normal, when one cared for another it was hard to let it go. "Thank you doctor." Calvin said with a whisper that Dr. Keller might not have heard with all the comotion in the cargo bay. It took a few seconds before Calvin actually came back around to his senses. Reality set back in to the first officers life. "Doctor...I will try to get you more help down here!" The doctor would appreciate all the help he could get. He looked around the cargo bay and was horrified by what he saw. ~This needs to come to an end!~ Calvin went to the Cargo Bay doors and was stopped by the two security officers that were blocking and protecting the doors. Calvin quickly asked them for an update on the ship. The security officer on the left filled in the First Officer, and made sure that he knew about the enemy marines that had boarded. "Thank you Ensign Miomi, but I must get to the bridge." The doors unlocked and hissed open. Calvin took out the phaser the security officer gave him. He then peaked out the door to see if there were any enemies around. He jumped out into the corridor and jogged down to the nearest turbo lift. The turbo lift doors opened and Calvin stepped in. "Bridge." [The bridge is only accesible to clearance code 5] "Alpha double Zeta 293 Capps" [Granted] The turbo lift began moving. Lt Cmdr Capps wasn't for sure what happened exactly but the ship shook hard. The turbo lift halted and sent Calvin to the floor hard. The lights went off and it was pitch black. Calvin waited for the back up lights to come back on, but they never did. (posted by Calvin) ====================================================================================== (USS Paladin, Bridge, ACSO Ensign JG K'Palla, 0930) K'Palla reached her station on the bridge when all Gre'thor broke loose. The Paladin shook and shook again as her shields suddenly absorbed a punishing assault from the Trigote and the two Prometheus class. Sparks flew from several bridge consoles and smoke filled the air. The Paladin bucked under the strain of the maneuver and the powerful weapon barrage she was taking. Suddenly the bridge lights went out. The emergency lights came on a second latter throwing shadows across the Bridge "We've lost main power," Sarouk said, somehow still seated at the engineering console. "Shields are down." "Get them back up!" the Captain yelled, jumping to her feet as the ship slowly stopped bucking as the Paladin pulled out of it's tight turn. Then she heard the sound of transporter beam in's. A lot of them. "REPEL BOARDERS!" Straton yelled, pulling her phaser and shooting the first armored enemy marine that appeared before her. The Bridge exploded into a fierce fire fight as enemy forces battled the Paladin crew for control. K'Palla turned in her seat and reached for her phaser, but it was quickly knocked out of her hand by an invader that had beamed in next to her. Reacting on instinct, drawing from the years of training for the "Blood Sisters", the Klingon woman's moves were fluid, but deadly. Still seated, she lashed out with her foot and kicked the man in the stomach, causing him to double over. As he leaned into her, she grabbed his head and twisted quickly, snaping his neck cleanly and efficiently. As the body went limp in her arms, K'Palla saw another intruder taking a bead on her with his weapon. Grabbing the body of the first invader, the Ensign stood up and used it like a shield to absorb the incoming beams. Another intruder advanced on her, but K'Palla shoved the dead man in her arms at him, to throw him off balance, and allowing her to draw her d'k tahg from her boot. As the intruder dodged the tossed body, K'Palla thrust the dagger into his chest, piercing his heart. Again and again, the Klingon woman would dodge, counter, and move with grace and deadly accuracy, dropping opponents as they closed with her. For a brief moment during the chaos, K'Palla glanced around to see who needed help. She was called upon by her new friend, Oak-honor, who was up to his elbows in trouble. "K'Palla, I don't have time for this," Michael yelled over his shoulder, his Irish brogue becoming more apparent due to the stress, "You mind keeping our guests occupied down here at my end of the room?" Michael asked, as he did his best to get the tactical systems, including Strat Ops, up and running again. "A pleasure, Oak-honor!!" yelled K'Palla, who was actually enjoying herself. With a loud battle cry, the woman launched herself into the crowd of intruders that had amassed themselves around the COPS. The first two that looked up at her died immediately, as her palm smashed in the face of one, while her blade sliced the neck of the other. She grabbed a third and struck him in the temple with the studded end of the dagger's pommel, then tossing him over a railing. A fourth man swung at her, but she dodged the blow and answered with a stab to the ribs, hitting a vital organ. As the man went down, K'Palla was struck in the back and knocked to the floor. As she turned and looked up, a large thick-necked muscular man towered over her. He spoke to her in a very thick germanic accent. "Hear me now and listen to me later, Klingon! I want to you to get up and see who's going to kill you!" the man said with great bravado. "When I am through with you, the last thing you see will be me feasting on your still beating heart!" ~~ Kahless, this pe'taH has been hitting the holo-novels pretty hard! ~~ K'Palla thought as she rolled her eyes and answered the challenge. "Stow it!" she said simply and charged at him. The two clashed with a mighty thud, but the larger man quickly took the advantage, easily shoving K'Palla back. The Klingon woman lashed out with her blade, but the man grabbed her wrist and twisted it back, forcing her to drop the weapon. The ensign then threw several punches at the huge man, each one connecting with his jaw, but none of them seemed to hurt him. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth as he smiled and spoke again. "You are good, but not good enough!" He then returned her punches with his own, each one harder than the previous. K'Palla staggered back from each blow, but regained her footing each time. The ensign threw another punch at the man's head, but he caught her fist in his massive hand. K'Palla winced as he applied pressure, and while she was distracted, his free hand grabbed her by the throat. The grip was like a vice, which tightened every second, cutting off circulation to her brain. The man lifted K'Palla up by the neck, so that they saw eye to eye. He pulled her in close and spoke into her ear. "Wake up! Time to die!" He was about to snap her neck, when the sound of a phaser blast caused the man's face to twist into an ugly contortion. His forehead exploded as a fine phaser beam lanced through the back of his head, killing him instantly. As the dead man fell, K'Palla landed on her feet and looked upon the one who saved her. There was the COPS, My-kill Oak-honor, holding the phaser. (reply O'Connor) "I had it under control, really, but thank you just the same!" she grinned. (posted by John) =============================================================================== (USS Paladin - Bridge - CONN Lt Max - 0932) The ship continued to be attacked by the best ships in the fleet. More than half were no match for the Paladin, but they came in numbers. With the auto defeses and the starbase fire power the battle started become more complex and more difficult. Captain Straton and Lt Kerge had ideas to plot changes that were at the highest difficult for a CONN officer to deliver. Lucky for the crew that was exactly the type of practice Max puts himself through. Max piloted the ship with absolute percesion, and with only half a board. He flew the huge ship through tight spaces between other ship, debris, and fire. Max took the ship under neath the enemy ship to allow the Chief of Tacitcal to fire nearly everything that the Paladin had. Max had no time to see if the planned had actually worked or not, he had to fly the ship to its next course, which was the flag ship fo the enemy fleet. Max ran his fingers across the board cautiously as a huge fight broke out on the bridge. A get away phaser fire missed its mark, but hit the CONN board instead. The board sparked infront of Max's face. Max turned his head backwards and watched the enemy get shot by one of the Paladin officers. He swiveled his head back to the board, and saw that only half the board now worked. He had to work twice as hard to get what he normally would get done with an entire board. (posted by Calvin) ===================================================================================== (USS Paladin, Bridge - COPS Ensign (jg) Michael Ian O'Connor - 0933) Michael watched as K'Palla charged the invaders at the front of the bridge. Apparently a raging Klingon woman was enough to draw their attention away from Michael for a bit. He did his best to reroute power, to get the sensors, and Conn, working again. He had managed to get the shields up, more to keep other boarders from beaming over than to protect them from ship to ship fire. Strat ops, Medical, Life Support, and a couple of other systems were running on their dedicated back up power systems. As the auxiliary power systems came online, Michael quickly routed the power to the places it desperately needed to be, the Conn, so they didn't drift into the sun, and Tactical, so they didn't get blown into the sun. As he was doing this he glanced over to see a Marine fighting with K'Palla. The man had gotten seriously cocky and had taken off his helmet, tossing it aside so he could look K'Palla in the face when he killed her. At least killing her seemed to be his plan as he had hoisted her off the ground and was choking the life out of her. Michael uttered a few short curses in Gaelic as he fumbled for his phaser, not remembering it was on the highest setting it would go to, due to his needing to kill a marine earlier. Pointing it at the back of the Marine's head, he fired, basically destroying the Marine's skull, and most of his brains in the process. "Thought it might be my turn to help," Micheal said as he put his phaser back in his holster. "I had it under control, really, but thank you just the same!" she grinned. Michael just chuckled, 'It was the least I could do for saving my arse. Figured I shouldn't let him delay you too long," Michael said as he sat back down at his console. (posted by Patrick) =============================================================================== (USS Paladin - Engineering - ACEO Ensign Zack Tristen - 0934) "Ensign. Where are we needed right now?" Kyp asked. Zack was centered in a chair faced toward the warp core. He scanned over multiple panels whilst he help keep all power flowing during the battle. He heard the voice of Kyp behind him. He didn't take his eyes off the panel. "Look around Ensign...take any empty console you can." "Well," he grinned at the two of them, "I hope you have enough blood and spit to help hold this ship together." "It seems I have more than enough sweat too." Zack said under his breath as he wiped his fore head off with his uniform sleeve. He know wondered why uniforms came in long sleeve only. Minutes later the lights went out in the engineering room just had it had on every deck of the large ship. With all the diligent work the engineering crew had gone through their fast hands and brains simply could not beat the damaging hits by phaser fire, and quantom torpedoes. When back-ups came on the staff quickly went back to work. They were also met with enemy marines. Many engineering officers unholstered their phasers and began firring. The Paladin marines that were stationed in engineering also took up strategic positions and began firring back at the enemy. Zack watched the fire fights while he had his own personal phaser in his head. He got away from the fight as much as possible. He looked up in time to watch a phaser fire get extremely close to the warp core. "WATCH WERE YOUR SHOOTING!" He yelled at everyone in the room. He accessed the nearest panel, and dropped his phaser on it as he tried to get more power to put a steady back-up force field around the warp core. He moved his eyes upward to look at the warp core with out moving his head. He watched as the force field surrounded it. More phaser file filled the engineering room. He picked his phaser off the panel, only to drop it again when he was shot in the right leg on his calf. His leg fell beneath his body. He took his phaser off the ground, and rapidly fired at the enemy marine that fired at him. In two shots he had killed the enemy. He then scooted his body over to the wall. He laid his back on the wall so he was sitting on the floor. He was behind the warp core now, so no fire would get to him accidental. He would continue to fire at the enemy marines that would come around the corner. He definitely felt a large shock on his mental state. He had never killed anyone before, and in less the 5 minutes he had done so to two men. Zack did not have time to think about it, more enemy marines continued to pound on the engineering deck. He was wounded and needed to save himself. "Ensign Tristen to any security. We need all the help down here we can get NOW!" He screamed the last part. He sat behind the warp core as he and the rest of the staff waited for more help to arrive. There were bodies scattered around the Bridge, and the smell of burned flesh filled the air. Eva, her left side badly burned from a phaser shot just barely avoided, was looking around the Bridge taking a quick head count of her officers still standing and those that weren't. Almost half the Security and Marine that had been stationed on the Bridge were either wounded or dead. She was moving around to the rear of the Bridge about to ask for a report when she felt a presence in one of the nearby Jeffries tubes. She motioned toward Kerge then the access hatch that who ever was inside the tube would use to come onto the Bridge. She motioned for Kerge to take up position on the other side and wait. They didn't have to wait long till the access hatch popped open and an officer wearing medical or science blue came tumbling out. He quickly jumped to his feet, looked around, noticed Eva and snapped to attention in front of her. "Ensign Dr. Tar Lanien Loxari, reporting for duty, sir," He said, fishing for a PADD then handing it to Eva. She took the PADD, made sure Kerge and K'Palla were both still watching the new comer before she took her eyes off of him to read the PADD. She sighed then motioned to Kerge and K'Palla to return to their posts. "You chose a fine time to drop in Ensign," Eva said, moving back over to her chair. "We could use a doctor up here about now." She motioned around to the various wounded. "Welcome Aboard, now it's time for you to get to work." (Reply Tar) Eva sat down in her chair. "Report!" She said, sharply. When they rematerialized on the Paladin K'yp smiled at her and said, "See, I told you we'd get out of there. And you were so ready to die. HA!" "That is my people's way, K'yp! I am always ready to face death!" she replied proudly. "Well, we've still got a lot of Doenitz's forces to kill. Let's go!" Kyp ran out of the cargo bay and headed for engineering. K'Palla recalled from the earlier briefing that the Captain wanted her on the Bridge, and headed to the nearest turbolift. Without a word, she stepped onto the bridge and took her place at the Science Station. Armored forms began appearing in strategic locations throughout the Engineering Deck. Obviously, the Paladin had been a major target for Doenitz forces and they'd studied her designs in the event the chance to board her came up. Paladin's marines and security forces already stationed in Engineering were quick to respond. Casualties mounted quickly on both sides. Phaser fire slashed through the dim gloom striking personnel, walls and instrument panels. The shielding readout panel, where Alura had been standing seconds before erupted when it was hit by a massive surge of energy. Fortunately she was moving away and pulling out her own phaser so the only damage she received was white hot sparks tearing painfully at her arms and side. She dove to the deck as another phaser beam passed nearby. She looked around taking in the situation in a matter of seconds. It didn't take a tactical expert to see the boarders were attempting to cut a path through the confusion toward the warp core. She thumbed her phaser setting to ten and fired twice. Two BDU-clad marines fell dead. She rolled to one side and came to her feet starting into at a dead run. "They're going for the warp core. Don't let them get there," she shouted to a contingent of marines frantically engaging the enemy not ten paces from her. She leant them aid with her own phaser fire before she dove into the entrance of a Jeffries tube for cover. The corridors started to fill with smoke. It was getting harder to see so Philip moved his men down the corridor closer to the enemy fire. It was a dangerous move, but it needed to be done for survival. As they reached the end they took cover at the corner. Philip peaked around and nearly was shot. He was glad he was wearing his full BDU. With his hands he motioned one of his men to move in place where he was. They didn't have enough fire power yet to fight with the enemy marines all day. Alpha team two was going to bombard them with suppression fire as alpha team two went around the corner to attack enemies flank. "GO!" Philip ordered. 5 of the 10 man team came out of protection of the corner and began firring everything they had at the enemy. The enemy marines stay pinned behind the big piece of metal they were hiding behind. The other 5 men including Philip rushed back to the other side of the corridor. They went down the hall until they were dead even with the enemy marines. Philip looked around the corner again, but there wasn't a clear shot. They would need to go down one more corridor. The risk of being caught running across the hall was high though. Philip took out a canister and pulled the pen. He waited a few seconds for the smoke to build up and then he rolled it across the corridor intersection. He hopped it would look like smoke simply coming from the walls to the enemy. The smoke built up high enough so the marines could pass with a low risk of being caught. One by one each marines passed the intersection. They continued down to the end of the hall. Once again Philip carefully looked around the corner. It was clear. "No tangos!" He reported to his men. They rounded the corner up to the next corner. "Enemy in sight, clear view." The ammunition that was being fired by the other half of the team that missed the enemies was hitting the wall close to Philip. Philip began speaking into his communicator. "Alpha squad one to Alpha squad two. Stop suppression fire." "Aye sir." The team stopped and took cover behind the corner one more time. As they did they heard fire coming from the enemy marines again. Philip looked at his men and gave them a nod. He extended three of his fingers and began to count down. When his index finger was the only finger left alpha squad one came out of cover and began firring at the uncovered enemy marines. Less than 10 seconds went by, and all the enemy marines were down. Damage control was on most of the detroyed panels already & those that were able were once again at their stations & working them to the best of their abilities. The Captain however seemed to be mometarilly distracted as Kerge looked directly at her, she was motioning to an access panel nearby, then she indicated to the TAC/SC to stand near to it in readiness for whoever it was that was lurking behind & making all the noise that was coming from behind it. In an instance though, the panel popped & fell aside to reveal a crewman in medical uniform climbing out onto the bridge. Kerges security instincts were to imediately grab him but his manner upon arriving convinced him that he was not an imediate threat. "Ensign Dr. Tar Lanien Loxari, reporting for duty, sir," said the man as he handed a PADD to the CO. "You chose a fine time to drop in Ensign," said the CO as she took the PADD & read off the info upon it & then set him to work on mopping up the wounded that lay around them. As for Kerge, he was sent back to his console to continue in his duties of dealing with what was still going on both inside & outside the ship. Figured I shouldn't let him delay you too long," Michael said as he sat back down at his console. The Klingon woman winked at her new friend. She was inwardly grateful for his help, though she would never had admitted to needing it. Looking around, she saw that the bridge was secure, for the moment. She retrieved her dagger and returned to her station. Her attention was then drawn to an access hatch that the Captain and Kerge were watching. She joined them there, and drew her dagger again, as the hatch opened to reveal an officer in blue. He quickly jumped to his feet, noticed Captain Straton and snapped to attention in front of her. "Ensign Dr. Tar Lanien Loxari, reporting for duty, sir," He said, fishing for a PADD then handing it to Eva. Tar reassured her, and quickly finished. When he moved on, the Klingon returned to her station. Eva sat down in her chair. "Report!" She said, sharply. "Sir, auxiliary power is up, I am currently attempting to reroute main power around the damaged sections of the Main power grid to get us back to full. Tactical sensors are down, rerouting the lateral sensor arrays through Tactical to compensate," Just then his panel sounded an alarm. "Sir, someone or something is trying to hack into our systems," Michael quickly brought up the diagnostics for the computer systems. "Sir, I think someone clamped a battle computer onto one of the ODN nodes on deck...20. Counter intrusion programs are...effective. Tar snerked slightly at the captain's pun. ~It's good to see that she can maintain a sense of humor even in these times.~ He did a quick scan of the bridge, both visually and telepathically, to assess the state of the injured on the bridge. He looked at Capt. Straton. "I'm on it, starting with you." And with that, Tar reached into his bag and did a scan with his medical tricorder. The burn damage was mostly superficial so he got out the dermal regenerator and quickly healed the Captain's burns. Tar then went around from officer to officer. There were a lot of burn injuries from control panels short circuiting and sprains and dislocations from the jarring motions of the ship. Tar attended to these quickly and efficiently, however with all the commotion it seemed for every one he healed three more were injured. He was running out of anesthetic hypospray vials in a hurry so he'd have to be sparing with their use. Tar kept an air of poise and calm about him, even though he was obviously injured himself. He knew, especially on the bridge, morale was a big issue. Every patient he tended to he gave words of encouragement. "Hey it's just a bump. I'll have you back at the science station in no time flat." "Just stay off that foot and you'll be fine at the helm." O'Connor requested. "Do it," Eva said, "And bring main viewer back on line." (Reply O'Connor) Eva looked up as the main view screen flickered to life. She could see what remained of one of the Prometheus classes floating by. In the distance, she could just make out the black hull of the Trigote as it was executing a sharp turn putting it back on a collision course with the Paladin. Looking at the tactical display on her arm rest screen she could see that Shark Bait was keeping the other Prometheus busy. "Weapon status?" Eva asked, not taking her eyes off the screen. (Reply Kerge) "CONN, ahead one half impulse," Eva ordered, "Bring us within weapons range." She then looked over at Kerge. "Lt, wait until we are passing then concentrate all fire on their starboard shields and their starboard nacelle. Lets see if we can't clip their wings." (Reply Kerge) She turned her attention to Ensign Loxari. "Ensign Loxari," She said, to get his attention. "When you have finished here, beam any wounded needing further medical attention and yourself to Cargo Bay 3. The Medical department has set it up as a triage area. Once there you will need to report in to the CMO Dr. Keller. Let Ensign O'Connor know when you are ready and he will use the a site to site transport to get you and the wounded there. (Reply Loxari and\or O'Connor) Then Eva settled back in her chair and watched the Trigote as they two flag ships closed within firing range of each other. The Paladin shook violently as her forward shields absorbed a full weapons barrage from the Trigote, but the forward shields held. Then the two ships turned as they passed, and the Paladin unleashed her own weapons barrage on the Trigote's starboard shields concentrating on her nacelle. Then the two ships had passed and each moved to turn back around for another pass. Then suddenly two Vor'Cha class attack cruisers de-cloaked and opened fire on the Trigote's weakened starboard shields, right where the Paladin had just punished them. Eva grinned wickedly as she saw the Trigote's starboard shields fail and her nacelle take several direct disrupter shots. The Trigote's hull armor absorbed most of the damage, as she returned fire on the two Vor'Cha's. "Give them some phaser support Lt.," Eva ordered, as she pressed a button on her arm chair. "Paladin to all friendly fighters. The Trigote's starboard shields are down. Converge and attack." (Reply Any Fighter pilots out there) In a matter seconds, the Trigote was surrounded by fighters, each one taking shots at her exposed nacelle and it's support strut. The Paladin quickly closing once more within weapons range. "Fire at will," Eva ordered. As the Paladin opened fire, the Trigote's nacelle exploded sending the ship into a spin as her shields failed completely. Eva watched as phaser and disrupter fire tore across the Trigote's hull followed by a spread of quantum torpedoes from the Paladin. The Trigote exploded in a blinding flash as one of her warp cores lost containment utterly destroying the enemy flag ship. Eva shielded her eyes even as the view screen automatically compensated for the intense brightness from the Trigote's death. Consulting her tactical display once more, she saw that with the death of the Trigote, the battle had once more turned in their favor. Rulestaad had outflanked the enemy lines with the Klingon reserve and had crushed their lines. Several enemy ships were turning tail and trying to flee the system pursued by blood thirsty Klingon's. The battle was quickly turning into a route. "Command to the Fleet," Eva said, opening her dedicated line to StratOps. "Do not pursue enemy ships out of system. Repeat. Do NOT pursue enemy ships out of system. We can't afford to get spread out." (Reply Rulestaad IYW) Eva closed the connection and looked around at her officers. Within seconds, that time had arrived & Kerge let fly with a devastating barrage of all available weaponry, the shield strengh indicators of the enemy vessel falling sequentially until they had reached twenty five percent. The shields however had failed to fall completely as the Paladin veered away & begin changing course to reform on the trigote once again. No sooner had they corrected their course though, the sight of two Klingon vessels decloaking nearby was a most welcome sight. Imediately, the Klingon ships began firing upon the trigote to finally bring her shields down even further. "Give them some phaser support Lt.,", cried the CO & Kerge imediately began retargetting the weapons to take advantage of the Klingons timely intervention. All at once, everything seemed to be upon the enemy vessel, fighters swarmed around her taking pot shots at her now vulnerable hull as the Klingon ships continued to fire upon her also. With a final volley of torpedoes from the Paladin, the Trigote was finally finished & it exploded in a flash of fire that filled the area around them. (reply K'Palla) After the two of them spoke for a bit, Commander Capps called them, "Ensign K'Palla and Ensign Durron." Calvin got the attention of the two officers. "Get you gear, and meet me in transporter room 2 immediately." (reply K'Palla) "Yes, sir." Kyp said while standing up. He cracked his back after being bent over for so long. "Well, K'Palla, looks like they don't appreciate our work here, so they send us somewhere else," Kyp said with a grin. (reply K'Palla) "Matrix!" Kyp exclaimed when he saw the engineer. "When did you get back!" (reply Matrix) The four person team walked off the bridge and on the turbo lift. Matrix walked toward the Captain and looked at her, "Yes Sir, fit for duty Captain," Matrix replied with a slight smile. War or not, it was good to be back on the Paladin. "Good," Eva replied, "I think Commander Capps could use your help over on Star Base 234 getting Main Operations up and running." She then looked back over at Capps. The Klingon felt a little out of place, not knowing the physical aspects of repairs. She let K'yp work on that part though, since he was the engineer. However, once the equipment was repaired or replaced, K'Palla was able to apply her skills to reprogram the panel, run diagnostics and get it up and running. She followed behind K'yp, working quietly and efficiently. She became more concerned when the engineers were ready to work on the Science Station. The space combat was over, and the boarding marines had all been neutralized. They had either surrendered or had been killed. The fighting on the Star Base however continued, though the fighting was going in their favor. It was only a matter of time till they had secured the Star Base. "We have captured Main Operation," Ensign O'Connor said, looking toward Eva. Eva nodded. Main Operations was the command center of the Star Base. The Star Base equivalent of a Bridge. "Command Capps," Eva said, turning to look at her First Officer. (Reply Capps) "Assemble an Away Team and beam over and start working repairing Main Operations," Eva said, the sound of the turbo-lift opening interrupted her. Her eyebrow rose slightly as Lt. He quickly informed the Captain who preceded to send the XO, K'Palla, Ensign Durron, and Lt. Matrix over to the station to deal with getting it up and running again. The Captain wanted them to organize the needed parts with Michael, who simply nodded and smiled before they all up and left. To say Michael was busy would be a bit of an understatement. The Task Force had taken a pounding, and most of the surviving ships were getting repairs underway with the relative calm. The Paladin, had the facilities to produce material that normally could only be found at a starbase or planet side, and as such, there was a literal line forming to get access to her Industrial replicators, and his comm panel was looking very similar to New Vegas at night. He quickly opened up the line to the Valorous, who was trying to get a hold of him. "This is Paladin Ops, go ahead Valorous," Michael said calmly. =/\=This is Valorous Ops, we are still waiting for our hull plating, we need it if we are going to get back on our feet any time soon,=/\= a slightly annoyed sounding voice said. "I understand Valorous, we are getting that ready for you now. We had some issues earlier with some uninvited guests, and are about done fixing up our Industrial transporter. We will signal you when we are ready to transport. Paladin Ops, out." Michael said, cut the line, then sighed, they were getting demanding as the day went on. One of his Chief's came up to him then, handing him a PADD to look over. Quickly looking over the Inventory, he nodded. "Chief, send the crate of EPS wave guides over to the Starquest, Sparky has been trying to do some good old fashioned horse trading, he happens to have a set of phaser relays he can spare us," Michael said, referring to a buddy of his who just happened to be an assistant ops officer on the Starquest. The chief nodded, and took the PADD back once Michael had signed off on it. While he had a few quiet moments, Michael studied the sensor readings from the space battle, looking for anything that might be useful. He was looking at the edges of the very early part of the battle when he noticed something odd. One of the Doenitz loyal ships seemed to get hit from a volley of phaser and torpedo fire, from a passing Defiant class ship, her shields dropped for a second, went back up, the ship rolled and then ran, in the wrong direction. It didn't run towards Doenitz controlled space, it ran away from it. "Computer, display the movements of the ship in quadrant 32 by 7, up until the timestamp I am currently viewing." Michael watched the sensor readings for the previous portions of the battle and decided that there were two conclusions. Either the entire senior crew of the enemy ship were incompetent, or they were intentionally doing their best not to damage any of the task force ships. The Ship in question fired multiple shots throughout the portion of the battle it was still in, but not one of them hit a ship dead on, most glanced off the shields, or caught some debris or missed completely. On top of all of this, when he looked closer at the hit that seemed to take out the ship, he noticed the most glaring mistake, the power failure happened, a little too quickly for it to be caused by the attack, not that anyone would notice in the heat of battle. "Computer, display, all Fleet references or open access log entries to the...USS Baldar," Michael said, finding the ship's name on it's hull in one of the pictures. "Display most recent first." Quickly Michael saw exactly what he expected. The Baldar was sitting on the fence, every report showed the Baldar was the last to fire, and when it did, it did minimal damage, that it had managed to avoid Civilian conflict someone, volunteering for deeper space action to keep itself away from those duties. Michael turned around in his chair and looked at the Captain. "Sir, I have something you might find interesting," Michael said with a smile. After K'Palla and K'yp spoke for a bit, Commander Capps called them, "Ensign K'Palla and Ensign Durron, get you gear, and meet me in transporter room 2 immediately." ""Aye, sir!" smiled the Klingon. "Yes, sir." Kyp said while standing up. "Well, K'Palla, looks like they don't appreciate our work here, so they send us somewhere else," he said with a grin. "Such is the life of an ensign! Let's see what kind of trouble we can get into over there!" laughed the Science Officer. As K'yp spoke to another returning crewman, K'Palla left the bridge and went down to the Science Labs to gather needed equipment for working on computers. Working on the main computer for a starship was a complicated thing, but a starbase computer was a monumental undertaking. She felt honored to be selected to do the work, and hoped she was up to the task. He was helping jr officers at the consoles with ship repairs, and coordinating relief efforts among the many ships that just fought in the battle against Starbase 234. More ships than Calvin wanted were destroyed in the battle. He was sure that many of the officers in the entire fleet felt the same way, but the numbers were below the anticipated amount. The space battles were finished, but other and different types of battles still needed to be fought. Damaged ships floated in space that had minimal or no power at all. To save the crew on those ships, rescue teams and ships needed to be created and launched as quickly as possible. So far the plans from Paladin have been adequate enough to cover the entire task force recovery efforts. "Continue with what you are doing. Make sure you are giving up-to-date information to Chief O'Conner." Lt Cmdr stepped down to the command chairs where Captain Straton was sitting in her seat. He sat in his seat in time to hear O'Conner's report. "We have captured Main Operations." Calvin adjusted himself in his seat as readied himself to read the newest reports. He saw Eva look over at him in the cor nor of his eye so he turned to his Captain. "Commander Capps." Eva said. "Yes sir," Calvin said back quickly. "Assemble an Away Team and beam over and start working repairing Main Operations", Eva ordered to her First Officer. The turbo lift doors opened and Eva and Calvin both looked up at the doors. Calvin watched a familiar face walk down to the Captain. "I'm assuming Dr. Keller has cleared you for duty, Lt?" Eva asked Matrix. "What have you got, Ensign?" Eva asked. "Sir, I have been looking over the sensor readings from the battle and I noticed something. The USS Baldar, an Akira class vessel that is loyal to Doenitz, fired a lot of shots and dodged just as many, but the shots it landed were in tactically poor areas and never dead on, they always ended up as glancing blows or just missing all together. To top it off, when she was hit, she lost power for a moment, then bolted and headed /away/ from Doenitz controlled space. I looked closer and the Baldar actually lost power before she should have," Michael said explaining the situation. "I also looked at past encounter records from the fleet and this isn't new behavior. She has managed to avoid civilian conflicts by putting herself in deep space, she always stays at the fringes of battles or as the rear guard, and hasn't fired the first shot as far as any one has reported. I'm pulling up the most recent crew and command roster to see if that might help us any, but I think we might have a ship that we can get to our side." A second latter the data O'Connor had been going over started to scroll on the smaller terminal screen. Eva adjusted the screen as she looked the data over carefully. After several minuets going over the data, Eva looked up considering what to do. "Ensign," Eva said, turning her gaze to look at O'Connor. Once the transport was finished Calvin stepped forward a few steps. He quickly looked around Main Ops for anything that could mean danger. He quickly noticed the marines at the entrance doors and at the turbo lift doors. He noted however that they were friendlies. He assumed they were put there to protect Main Ops for re-take over. It didn't take long for the marines to notice that some one had beamed into Main Ops. They turned and raised their guns. Calvin needed to act quickly. "Woh, I am Lt Cmdr Capps from the USS Paladin," Calvin said as he stretched one of his arms out while he displayed a standard stop signal with his hand. The marines didn't flinch. They still had their guns in the air pointing at Lt Cmdr Capps. One of the marines from the turbo lift began to move over to the area as well, and it was apparent that that marine was in charge. "Put your weapons down," the superior marine ordered. He turned to Calvin. "Welcome aboard Starbase 234, Commander." "Thanks. My team and I are going to get this place back to gather, and maybe we can help our Marines on the starbase to capture it faster." "Aye sir, I will inform the General you are on board." the marine said as he ordered his men back to their post and as he went back to his post as well. After the small bit of confusion Calvin got to quickly look around Main Ops. The only good news Calvin could see was that all the fires have been put out. It was apparent that there were many explosions on main ops. Small, medium, and large broken pieces of consoles, seats, tools, and metal laid randomly everyone. "Lets get started." He turned to Lt Matrix and Durron. "Find a central console that still works and get it to take commands from here again." He next turned to K'Palla "We will need the lights back on, and make sure that minimal requirements are on and operating." Calvin next turned to the rest of the team that came with him. He was back serving where he wanted to be. As the energizing beam finished its routine, the interior of the Starbase became visible. Matrix noticed the marines almost as soon as the commander. As the commander took control of the situation and calmed the marines down, he looked around at the ops center...or what was left of it. Matrix turned toward the commander as he snapped orders. "Lets get started." He turned to Lt Matrix and Durron. "Find a central console that still works and get it to take commands from here again." Matrix said with a serious smile, "Aye sir. Can you?" said Matrix to Durron (Reply Durron) The rest of the away team went their separate ways as the commander ordered. Durron and Matrix remained to their repairs. Matrix crawled under the control panel and removed a few panels that weren't already burnt away or otherwise removed by the battle. He took out his tricorder and began some readings. "Durron, any luck on accessing the control panel, any activity on that board?" (Reply Durron) Matrix took out a plasma cutter and started removing an access panel that was fused to the underlying structure. "I'll try to cut away this panel to see if the conduits and control circuits are still intact. If not we'll need to find another junction box to re-route power and the data controls to. This may take awhile." (Reply Durron) A loud pop and a flash filled the area where Matrix was working. Sparks filled the immediate area, then subsided as quickly as they had appeared. Shaking his head, he mutttered to himself, "They blow up the place and tell us to fix it. I don't htink this was part of my contract." Kyp saw Commander Capps calm some marines about to kill them. ~And to top it off, we damn near get shot right as we beam aboard. Oh yes, this is going to be a *long* day.~ "Lets get started." Commander Capps turned to Lt Matrix and Durron. "Find a central console that still works and get it to take commands from here again." Matrix said with a serious smile, "Aye sir. Durron, lets start over here. I think I see an active screen under this debris." Matrix walked over to the area he was pointing to, "Durron, can you help me remove this broken panel?" Kyp brought out a small pry-bar and pulled off the panel with a snap. He fell back and bushed himself off, giving Matrix a look that made it clear he was not to be made fun of for this. He could see that power was still flowing through some of the wiring from the hum of some of the parts. Matrix brushed off the dust and broken glass, "It looks like we have some power to this console, but I can't make out what station this is. Can you?" said Matrix to Durron. Kyp dug into some of the wiring and found some parts he recognized from the power relay system. "I think this was the power management console. Everything looks like it's still semi-functional. The rest of the away team went their separate ways as the commander ordered. Durron and Matrix remained to their repairs. Matrix crawled under the control panel and removed a few panels that weren't already burnt away or otherwise removed by the battle. He took out his tricorder and began some readings. "Durron, any luck on accessing the control panel, any activity on that board?" Kyp tried to get the panel to give him something, but all he got from it was a lot of failure notices from not being connected to the ship's computer. "Negative, seems as if the connections between it and the computer have been severed." Matrix took out a plasma cutter and started removing an access panel that was fused to the underlying structure. "I'll try to cut away this panel to see if the conduits and control circuits are still intact. If not we'll need to find another junction box to re-route power and the data controls to. This may take awhile." "Okay, I'm gonna see if I can repair the software programming here. Looks like someone activated a scrambling protocol." Kyp began to dig through the various programs on the panel as Matrix worked. He managed to get the panel to reset itself completely, though he had to go around a lot of safegaurds someone had put up on there. "Got it. Now we just have to connect it to the computer. We could make this the central panel for any others we fix." A loud pop and a flash filled the area where Matrix was working. Sparks filled the immediate area, then subsided as quickly as they had appeared. Matrix sat up on one elbow, "Well that's not going to look good on a resume." Kyp grinned, "Heh, it's your resume. Just make sure to tell them when they ask about it that this happened after the marines blew up Main Ops. We had to come through and fix what they broke." He winked. (reply Matrix) Kyp opened up another panel and found out what was missing from the other panel to connect it to the computer. He helped Matrix reroute the panel they had repaired. Kyp smiled when the panel lit up like new and seemed as if it hadn't been blown open about an hour ago. "See, we're a good team?" So far Lt Matrix and Ensign Durron had been able to fix six of the major consoles in main ops. The fixed stations gave the crew in main ops a significant amount of working space. K'Palla was currently at the now fixed science station, while the two engineers continued to work together. Many of the debris had been piled together so that a transporter tag could be placed on them and then transported it to an empty cargo bay. In the past hour Robert's forces had been able to gain control of nearly the entire starbase. The only enemies left were a few dedicated extremist for Doenitz. They have trapped themselves in a cargo bay filled with explosives which were being handled by capable hands. Calvin walked over to a working console and pushed a few commands into it. He then looked up at the working view screen to see his captain's face. "Captain Straton we have made progress here. It is still unsafe to transport extra personnel over for larger scale repairs. The extremist in the cargo bay will be no threat soon sir." (reply Straton) "Right now we are still repairing main ops as well as normal operations." Fortunately, there was no physical damage to the console, with the exception of some burned out relays. Those were easily scavanged from another console and quickly replaced. As power came on at the Science Station, the Klingon ran a diagnostic on the Main Computer. Her findings were surprising and she voiced her success. "Qaplas! There were so many exremist Marines in the cargo bay that if they were caught they were sure to die in a short gun fight. There task at hand needed to be perfect in execution and in stealth. The two men crawled for 5 meters more until had to halt at the end. Tholos attempted to turn the handle to open the wall door, but it would not budge. The chances of a rigged bomb behind the door was great, so Tholos had to proceed carefully. He turned and looked at Mark. Mark then handed Tholos a small bag with a few useful tools. Tholos opened it and took out the unlockabe mechanisim to the far right. He turned a small dial on it and passed it over the door. The door was locked with the standard lock of the starbase. Tholos turned the dial on the tool one more time and passed it over the door again. This time Tholos heard the small latch unlock. No bomb exploded so he assumed he was still ok for the moment. He slightly opened the latch door. The explosive specialist then took out his tricoder. He was not able to get any readings on the other side of the door before, but now that the door was partly open he could get a clear reading. Tholos turned to Mark once again. "There are 27 personal in there. It seems no one is guarding this latch." He made his focus back on the door as he opened it a few more centi-meters. At once Tholos noticed the small wire that was no doubt connected to an explosive on the other side. Quickly, he took a cutting utensil out of the bag and snapped the wire in half. Now came the hard part. Tholos and Mark had to crawl into the bay without being noticed. Tholos opened the door only as much as he had to to exit shaft and into the bay. He then crawled behind a few large barrels. Mark followed behind and shut the latch door. Tholos scanned the room once again. The bomb detonation was placed on the other side of the room. "Mark, find me a safe route over there." Mark leaned over to the right of the barrel to see the extremist. The only route he could see was to go all the around them while hiding behind each large item they came across. 10 minutes later Tholos kneeled before the bomb with tools in hand. Mark was on look out for any enemy marines. Tholos began working. "It doesn't seem to hard. It is a very simple design." Tholos looked at the wires and followed each color from the detonation control to the bomb. One was a dummy, and one was the actual one. Tholos thought back to his training, text, instructors, and most of all the mistakes he has made in the past. He picked the white wire and decided to cut. Tholos took out a percession wire cutter and sliced the white one in half. Tholos and Mark both took in a heavy breath of air. The bomb deactivated, but how long will it take before they were caught. Mark pushed a button on a device he took out of his pocket. It alerted the Marines on the outside of the main bay door that the bomb was tacken care of so they could barge into the bay and take it over. Tholos and Mark then took cover.
